Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Zylon’s mobile application and website at zylon.app (together, the “Service”), operated by Zylon (“Zylon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1.Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Service in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
2.Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Zylon. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will terminate that account.
If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian’s permission to use the Service.
3.Your Account
- You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
- One person may not maintain more than one account for purposes of evading enforcement action, manipulating rank/reputation, or circumventing posting/contribution limits.
- You may delete your account at any time through the app's account settings.
4.What Zylon Is
Zylon is a social accountability platform. You set personal goals, post structured weekly progress updates (a “Win” and a “Challenge”), and give and receive support through comments with other users. The Service uses a reciprocal engagement model: certain features (such as viewing your own updates’ comments, or viewing the community feed) may be temporarily limited if you haven’t met your own weekly posting or contribution activity, as described in-app. This is a functional part of how the Service operates — not a penalty applied at our discretion — and is explained to you during onboarding and reflected in your in-app status indicators at all times.
Your goal history, including past completed and abandoned goals, is visible on your public profile by design, as a record of your progress. If you don’t want a particular goal or update visible to others, you can control its visibility via the “public” setting available at the time of posting, or delete it afterward.
5.Subscriptions — Zylon Pro
- Zylon's core features are free to use.
- Zylon Pro is an optional paid subscription that adjusts your posting and contribution commitment frequency and unlocks profile customization, as described in the app.
- Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your device, and are subject to their respective payment terms.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — Zylon cannot process cancellations or refunds directly, as all billing is handled by Apple/Google.
- Prices are as displayed in-app at the time of purchase and may vary by region.
- We use RevenueCat solely to sync your subscription status between the app stores and our systems; RevenueCat does not process payments itself.
6.User-Generated Content
6.1 Your Content, Your Responsibility
You retain ownership of the content you post (updates, comments, photos, and other materials — “Your Content”). By posting Your Content, you grant Zylon a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service (for example, showing your update in another user’s feed). This license ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except where your content has already been shared with or by other users in ways we cannot retroactively undo.
6.2 The Zylon Pact — Community Guidelines
All users agree to the Zylon Pact:
- Critique the process, not the person.
- Be a beacon, not a critic.
- Share the struggle — it’s a strength.
6.3 Prohibited Content and Conduct
You agree not to post, upload, or transmit content that:
- Harasses, bullies, threatens, or demeans another person or group
- Constitutes hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics
- Impersonates any person or entity, or misrepresents your affiliation with a person or entity
- Contains sexually explicit material, nudity, or content exploiting or endangering minors in any way
- Is AI-generated or synthetically manipulated (“deepfake”) content presented as genuine, real, or unaltered, without clear disclosure that it is synthetic
- Infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights
- Is spam, unsolicited advertising, or otherwise inauthentic (including fake accounts or engagement manipulation)
- Is illegal, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity
- Depicts or promotes self-harm, disordered eating, or violence
You also agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent the Service's accountability mechanics (e.g. through automation, bots, or scripted account activity)
- Scrape, harvest, or collect data about other users beyond what is visible through normal use of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure or security
6.4 Reporting & Moderation
Zylon provides in-app tools to report content or accounts that violate these Terms, and to block other users. Reported content is reviewed, and we may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion and without prior notice in cases of severe or repeated violations.
If your content is removed or your account is actioned and you believe this was done in error, you may appeal by contacting support@zylon.app.
6.5 Copyright (DMCA-Style Notice-and-Takedown)
If you believe content on Zylon infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@zylon.app including: (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) identification of the material you claim is infringing and its location in the app, (3) your contact information, and (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We will review valid notices and remove infringing content where appropriate. Repeat infringers’ accounts will be terminated.
7.Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, at our discretion, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation. Upon termination, Sections 6.1 (as applicable), 8, 9, and 10 survive.
8.Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Zylon does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Content posted by other users reflects their own views, not ours, and we do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of user-generated content, including advice shared in comments.
Zylon is a tool to support your personal goals; it is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, financial, psychological, or otherwise), and you should seek appropriate professional guidance for matters requiring it.
9.Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zylon and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) 100 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
10.Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
11.Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you via the app, email, or a notice on our website before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
